Labelshow (Etiketka)'2003
Greeting of mr. Corey M Reardon, Principal, AWA Alexander Watson Associates
Exhibition and conference – two complementary elements of LabelShow
Corey M Reardon, Principal of global market research consultants AWA Alexander Watson Associates, looks at his own personal ‘history’ with LabelShow and its associated conference In various roles, I have been closely involved with the Russian label industry for many years – and in particular with LabelShow. Technical capability I paid my first visit to the exhibition in my capacity as Marketing Director for Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe many years ago, and I have returned every year since to experience at first hand the dynamic growth the Russian label market continues to enjoy. It is a pleasure to see, in the halls of the Sokolniki Cultural and Exhibition Center, so much evidence of a strong and capable converting industry. It is also particularly satisfying that this technical capability is being enthusiastically embraced by both domestic and international product manufacturers for a surprising variety of label applications. The showcase of labeled products that makes up the central focus of most LabelShow exhibits are proof of this. AWA Conference at LabelShow In more recent years, through my own company, AWA Alexander Watson Associates (which specializes in international market research, consulting and publishing in the converting, packaging, printing, and self-adhesives industry), I have been involved in the organization of the annual LabelShow conference – now a regular fixture in the LabelShow calendar. With a strong line-up of industry-leading sponsor companies – Akzo Nobel Inks, Avery Dennison, Itraco, Kocher + Beck, Nilpeter, and UPM Label Papers, this year’s conference takes place in Pavilion 17 at the Sokolniki Center on March 18. It promises to be an excellent opportunity for show visitors to update themselves on market trends and technologies. AWA Conferences have designed the program to give delegates a broad spread of information on issues, challenges, and opportunities that range from flexo printing and UV inks to import and export tariffs and OVD security labels, and I hope that many visitors to the exhibition will schedule a second day at Sokolniki into their calendars in order to attend the conference as well. Bigger and better than ever I am sure that LabelShow 2003 will be bigger and better than ever – thanks not only to the Russian label industry’s dynamism, but also to the skills of show organiser Valentina Vishnevskaja and her team. I hope that all this year’s exhibitors, visitors, and conference delegates will find their visit both exciting and educational – and that 2003 will continue to be very successful in business terms for everyone involved in the labellng and packaging industry in Russia.
